The Giallorossi, in particular, are seeking a centre-back and talks have stalled for Daniele Rugani, as Juventus want €24m plus youth team players Alessio Riccardi and Zan Celar.
Instead, Kannemann would be available for a €10m release clause in his contract with Gremio.
He is an Argentina international with five caps, so already knows Roma defender Federico Fazio.
