Serie A Week 2 referees

The Serie A Week 2 referees are announced as Daniele Orsato is given Juventus-Napoli and Marco Guida will oversee the Derby della Capitale.

The assignment of Orsato has been panned by Neapolitan media, given his controversial performance during Juve’s 3-2 win against Inter in April 2018.

He showed a straight red card to Matias Vecino upon reviewing video footage of his challenge on Mario Mandzukic and then failed to give Miralem Pjanic a second booking.

The referee was later reported to be receiving police protection, such was the reaction to his management of the fixture.

The VAR in Turin will be Massimiliano Irrati.

Elsewhere, Guida will be the man in the middle for the capital clash between Lazio and Roma, with Paolo Mazzoleni on VAR duty at the Olimpico.

The 38-year-old is something of a derby specialist, officiating Torino-Juve and Inter-Milan last season with little drama.
