Lasse Schone says the start to his Genoa career has been ‘fantastic’ and is backing his side to impress this season.

Schone helped Ajax reach the Champions League semi-finals and win another Eredivisie title last season but traded that all in for a two-year contract with Genoa, who just about avoided relegation.

“For me it’s a new adventure, even more so considering my age,” the midfielder said at a Press conference.

“For me it’s a new adventure, even more so considering my age,” the midfielder said at a Press conference.

“The first two weeks have been fantastic, as was the 3-3 draw with Roma. We have to keep working, we can have a good season.

“As for where we’ll finish, ask me after our next few matches. I believe in this squad and I’m convinced we can do well.

“The city is beautiful and my impressions have been excellent. People at the club helped me right away.

“The team are made up of good players and good people: when we’re together, we have fun.

“Everyone told me about the stadium and the fans: I’m looking forward to playing at Marassi.

“Andreazzoli’s a different Coach to those I’ve had in the past. He wants to us play with the ball and I like: I’m not the type to play with long balls.”

The 33-year-old was then asked about the differences between football in Italy and the Netherlands.

“There are some differences: in the Netherlands you defend and attack all together.

“Here we use a different formation to the one Ajax use, but I think Serie A is one of the best Leagues in the world.”
