Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade says his club will not be signing Udinese attacker Rodrigo de Paul but hinted at a permanent deal for Dalbert.

Dalbert arrived on a season-long loan from Inter earlier in the week, swapping clubs with Cristiano Biraghi, but Fiorentina did not include an option to buy

However, Prade clarified at a Press conference: “Dalbert’s a strong player and one we like.

“He was Montella’s first choice. He’s on loan because his old contract was linked to Nice and Inter, but there’s a gentlemen agreement to discuss his future again at the end of the season and we’ll have priority. That’s also because he really likes our project.

“We’re a team under construction, it’s impossible to say that this won’t be a year of sporting transition.

“We’ve changed everything, the young players who are here now played elsewhere last season.

“As of next season, we’ll fight for the Europa League. We want to achieve an important objective, but I don’t want to apply any pressure.

“For example, the defeat to Napoli burned but I took positives. We’ll seize any opportunities that would be instrumental to our project.

“The President’s given us maximum availability in terms of spending, but we won’t buy for the sake of buying as that could take space away from our young players.”

The Viola have been negotiating for De Paul in recent days, but the former Udinese executive accepted ‘there’s no possibility’ of the Argentine joining.

“We wish him great luck. His situation has always been on the edge because he wanted to play.

“We’ll only do something in attack if it’s needed. Llorente would’ve been a big deal to pull off, but he would’ve taken Vlahovic’s place.

“Our relationship with the Pozzo family is fantastic, but there’s no possibility of him coming to Florence this season.

“We like Pedro, but he costs a lot. Why should Inter deprive themselves of Politano? And why should Sporting give up Raphinha? We need a functional transfer window.”
