Carlo Ancelotti insists he has ‘no regrets’ about Napoli’s failure to land Inter striker Mauro Icardi.
Napoli fell flat in their attempts to sign Icardi, despite Inter’s desperation to offload the Argentine, and are instead bringing in Fernando Llorente on a free transfer.
“I don’t know anything about Llorente, I’m not interested in the transfer market,” Ancelotti said at a Press conference for Saturday’s Serie A showdown with Juventus.
“I have to think about something else but if he comes, I’ll be very happy. As for Icardi, I have no regrets.
“Facing Sarri tomorrow would be a pleasure, above all to see that he’s well, which is the most important thing.”
The Coach then discussed the controversial change to the handball ruling, which sees penalties given to any contact, regardless of intention, as well as new boy Hirving Lozano.
“I hope we take a step back on the regulation concerning handballs. Contact in football can be lawful.
“Lozano is fine. He’s in excellent condition, having already started training with us. He’s adapting to new ideas and situations. He’s ready to play.”
Finally, Carletto expressed sympathy for ex-Roma tactician Luis Enrique following the death of his 9-year-old daughter.
“When these things happen, there’s not much you can say other than rallying around a colleague who has suffered a terrible tragedy.”
