Danilo “didn’t have time to realise what was going on” when he scored 26 seconds into his Serie A debut for Juventus in a 4-3 thriller with Napoli.

The Brazilian was rushed off the bench only 11 minutes in when Mattia De Sciglio limped off with a muscular problem.

“I couldn’t be more happy, to be honest. I’ve been working to be fit as soon as possible to help the team, so when I got on the pitch I scored, I’m so very happy,” Danilo told Sky Sport Italia.

The former Manchester City man was on the pitch for 26 seconds in his Serie A debut when he got the ball in the net on a counter-attack from a Napoli corner.

“I didn’t have time to realise what was going on. I was on the bench, got on the pitch and it all happened so quickly. I went to help on the corner, the ball started moving and I saw so much space in front of me, I had to run!”

Napoli came back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3, but in stoppages Kalidou Koulibaly scored a bizarre own goal.

“There are a lot of things we need to improve, we know that, but a win that way is so good for our confidence, it shows we are strong as a team,” added Danilo.

“With 10 minutes left they got 3-3, but we believed that we could score and that was the most important thing.”
