After Giorgio Chiellini, now his Juventus teammate Mattia De Sciglio has also pulled out of the Italy squad, replaced by Inter’s Danilo D’Ambrosio.
The Azzurri go into Euro 2020 qualifiers against Armenia and Finland.
Coach Roberto Mancini has already been forced into one change after Chiellini tore his ACL in training, an injury that will keep him out for around six months.
The veteran made way for Lazio centre-back Francesco Acerbi.
His Juventus teammate De Sciglio limped off during last night’s 4-3 win over Napoli suffering from a muscular problem.
A statement released this afternoon confirmed De Sciglio had withdrawn from international duty and would be replaced by Inter defender D’Ambrosio instead.
The Nazionale get together in Bologna on Monday afternoon and will play Armenia in Yerevan on Thursday, then visit Finland in Tampere next Sunday.
