Simone Verdi has completed his deadline day move from Napoli to Torino for a reported €25m after months of talks, but right on the wire.

It was finalised with seconds to spare before the Serie A transfer deadline, for €4m loan with €21m obligation to buy.

This transfer has been in the works all summer, but the Partenopei were never prepared to listen to offers, only to open up in the final hours of the summer market.

This transfer has been in the works all summer, but the Partenopei were never prepared to listen to offers, only to open up in the final hours of the summer market.

The 27-year-old winger and two-footed free kick specialist has struggled to get playing time under Carlo Ancelotti since his move from Bologna for €24.5m.

It’s believed the two clubs have worked out the basic terms of a €25m transfer and the player was spotted 75 minutes before the deadline entering Torino’s offices to sign the paperwork.

This is a return to Torino, as Verdi was already at the club after leaving the Milan youth academy in 2011.

He spent most of that out on loan at Juve Stabia, Empoli and was sold back to Milan in 2015.
