Sensi: I'm becoming a winner

Inter and Italy midfielder Stefano Sensi believes he is becoming a winner under Antonio Conte and Roberto Mancini.

Sensi was called up to the Italy squad for Euro 2020 qualifiers against Armenia and Finland, having caught the eye for Inter in his first couple of months, and he was full of praise for his two Coaches.

“I have high expectations of myself, as always,” the 23-year-old said at a Press conference.

“Certainly, my attention levels will always be the same. I want to play, I’m available to the Coach.

“Having technical players like Jorginho and Verratti around me can help me. At Sassuolo I played as a ‘regista’, while at Inter I’ve played as a ‘mezz’ala’ so far.

“I’ll play wherever I’m needed. I’ve always said that I’m a ‘regista’, but in modern football we often switch roles during the game.

“With Conte at Inter, I’m feeling very good as a ‘mezz’ala’. Certainly, my mentality is improving under Conte.

“Above all, I already feel like I’ve have grown mentally. I think that in today’s football, physicality doesn’t really count as much as the speed of your execution and technique.

“A short lad can also be athletic. Italy are proposing an attacking style of football. We’re looking to piece play together and dribble with the ball often.

“There are many differences between Mancini and Conte, in part because we have less time with the national team. Both have a winning mentality and that’s what matters.”

The former Sassuolo man then reflected on his move to the Nerazzurri, as well as the discussing his teams’ ambitions and Mauro Icardi.

“I’ve found myself in a totally different world. For me, coming to Inter was a dream but I’m living it calmly and with ambition.

“I also have to thank the club, my Coach and my teammates. Everyone believes in me and that’s letting me do my best.

“As for Icardi, we’ve always worked to do our best. It’s an issue that the club have dealt with.

“We’re working at Inter to win the Scudetto and in the Italy set-up to win the European Championship.”
