Serie A sextet on World 11 shortlist

Giorgio Chiellini, Diego Godin, Kalidou Koulibaly, Matthijs de Ligt, Alex Sandro and Cristiano Ronaldo are all on the shortlist for the 2019 FIFA FIFPro World 11.

Chiellini, who is the only Italian representative on the 55-man shortlist, is joined by Juventus teammates Alex Sandro, De Ligt and Ronaldo.

Completing the Serie A representation are Inter new boy Godin and Napoli’s defensive lynchpin, while there is a place for former Juventus right-back Joao Cancelo - now at Manchester City.

More than 23,000 professional footballers were asked to select their best goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards of the past season.

The 11 players who receive the most votes in their position will earn a spot on the XI, which will be announced during the Best FIFA Football Awards at the Scala in Milan on September 23.
