Ciro Immobile has ended his Italy goal drought after two years and three days, finding the net against Finland.

The Lazio striker has been a regular on the scoresheet at club level, but his last international strike was in the 1-0 World Cup qualifier against Israel on September 5, 2017.

He had fired blanks in 10 consecutive caps, but finally broke through in Tampere during this evening’s Euro 2020 qualifier.

Immobile was unexpectedly in the starting XI, with his first appearance since the 2-0 victory over Finland on March 23, when he provided the assist for Moise Kean’s goal.
