President Rocco Commisso outlined his plans for Fiorentina, which includes “keeping Federico Chiesa for many seasons and winning something.”

The Italian-American billionaire completed the takeover from the Della Valle brothers, ending their 17-year reign, and has already won over the fans with his enthusiasm, passion and determination to turn their fortunes around.

“I didn’t buy Fiorentina in order to make money,” Commisso told Sky Sport Italia. “We’ve don’t have many gems in the squad and we want to keep the ones we’ve got.

“I want to observe, learn and then win something. Having said that, you can’t win without strong players.”

It’s reported today that the Viola have offered to double Chiesa’s salary in order to stave off Juventus interest.

“I said Chiesa is staying for at least a year, but I’d like to keep him for many seasons.”

Vincenzo Montella lost the opening two Serie A games of the season, but Commisso is keeping faith with his Coach.

“I’ve had a lot of success in my life with Mediacom and from the first day after I bought the company, I wanted to give my employees the opportunity to prove what they could do. I did the same with Montella, who should be allowed to calmly get on with his work.”

The New Jersey native loves to be in the thick of the fan enthusiasm when he comes to Florence.

“There’s nothing wrong with spending time with people, it’s the right thing to do. When I arrived, I was told this isn’t really done here, but the players should stay with the fans the way I do as well.”
