Italian authorities have closed 114 websites illegally streaming sporting events as Serie A continues its fight against piracy.
Lega Serie A recently launched a campaign against piracy, although it has been criticised for not doing nearly as much to combat racism.
In the meantime, authorities in Italy have managed to pull down 114 websites offering illegal streaming, as part of the operation entitled ‘Free Football’.
“Our product, our brands and the rights of the fans must be defended and protected from counterfeiting,” Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo told Corriere dello Sport.
The Italian top flight is currently being broadcast in the UK and Ireland by Premier Sports.
