Pedro’s agent believes Fiorentina are the ideal club for the striker, even if ‘there were very advanced negotiations with Real Madrid.’
Pedro recently joined Fiorentina in a €14m deal from Fluminense, and Marcio Giugni expects the 22-year-old to flourish for the Viola.
“Playing in Europe has always been a dream for Pedro,” Giugni told La Nazione.
“I’d like to thank Fiorentina for the faith they’ve placed in him. We’re certain that we’ve come to the ideal club: Pedro is looking forward to defending the jersey of a club with so much history.
“He’s prepared to face the difficulties of a tough League like Serie A. He’s excited, of course, but he also feels very good.
“I, together with his family, will give him all the necessary support so that he can settle in right away and be at his best.
“Pedro’s physical condition is excellent, he’s 100 percent ready to play at his best level. There’s no doubt about the fitness side: we’re talking about a lad who takes great care of himself.”
The representative then admitted to holding talks with Madrid over a summer transfer.
“There were very advanced negotiations with Real Madrid but, due to his injury, the agreement was cancelled.
“Now we’re only focused on the present so that Pedro shows all his quality in Florence. He wants to help Fiorentina so that his name is written into the pages of the club’s history.
“We’re grateful to their entire management for the opportunity they’ve given him, seeing as Pedro will be playing in one of the best Leagues in the world.”
