Lucas Biglia gets messages from “all over the world” about the Derby with Inter and insists Milan “belong in the Champions League.”
The Derby della Madonnina is on Saturday night and finds the Rossoneri as underdogs, because Antonio Conte’s men are the only side with a 100 per cent Serie A record this season.
“It is the game of the city and is watched all over the world,” the midfielder told Milan TV.
“You get messages from all over the globe from people who you wouldn’t expect, but that shows you how great Milan are and will always remain in history.
“We were unlucky not to win the derby last season and hope to get a victory that can boost our confidence.”
Milan beat 10-man Hellas Verona at the weekend to climb up the table.
“We didn’t play well, but we won and those three points allowed us to work in a calmer atmosphere. We certainly need to improve a great deal, but if we can keep winning in the meantime, then that’s even better.
“We felt really bad after failing to qualify for the Champions League and hope we can make it up to the fans this season, because they have always stood by us.
“Milan belongs in the Champions League and we need to get the club back there.”
Biglia returned to the squad after missing several weeks with a new injury.
“After a good pre-season training run, I had to stop for 20 days with a slight problem, as I didn’t want to make the same mistake I did in October when aggravating an injury.
“I need to play in order to find my form, but I’ll get there and try to make the most of every minute I’m given in this competitive squad.”
