Milan striker Ante Rebic has been given a five-match UEFA ban for insulting the referee during his final Eintract Frankfurt game.

The forward was sent off during the Europa League play-offs with Strasbourg on August 29 and reacted furiously, having to be held back from confronting the referee and repeatedly swearing at him.

Rebic has been suspended for “five UEFA competition matches for which he would be otherwise eligible, for serious rough play and insulting a match official.”

As Milan are not in the Europa League this season, he will have to complete the ban when his team is next participating in one of the UEFA tournaments.
