Simone Inzaghi urged Lazio to “play not just for 50 minutes,” but also criticised the media for going from “superstars to donkeys” headlines.

The Aquile had started the season with a 3-0 victory at Sampdoria, but it’s been all downhill from there with a draw against Roma, then defeats to SPAL and CFR Cluj.
“We lost two games where we certainly should’ve done better and saw a very good Lazio in the first half, then we paid the price after the break and were left with regrets,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“We analysed why we tend to drop off in the second half. The moment we drop the intensity level even a little bit, we really struggle. I don’t agree with criticism of my squad rotation, because it wasn’t about individuals, but the overall team attitude. We have chances to kill the game and don’t take them.”
There were reports in Il Messaggero newspaper this morning that Lazio are furious with Inzaghi and contacted Gennaro Gattuso.
“There is disappointment after these two defeats, but also a great deal of faith,” assured the Coach.
“I want my Lazio to get back on track with hunger and motivation. We must maintain the humility we’ve always had. The problem is that nobody talked about us over the summer, after two games we were being treated as superstars, while now we’re called donkeys. There has to be some sort of balance.
“We are up against a Parma side that has good players, improved during the transfer window and have a well-prepared Coach like Roberto D’Aversa.
“Systems and personnel can change, but the attitude must remain the same throughout and not just for 50 minutes.”
