“I’ve often said that the team looks good in training and worked really hard, but the ultimate verdict is what happens during the game. What I can say is that I saw the desire to make up for these defeats,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“I’ve often said that the team looks good in training and worked really hard, but the ultimate verdict is what happens during the game. What I can say is that I saw the desire to make up for these defeats,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

The Blucerchiati have lost all three games so far this season, although there were improvements compared to the opener with Lazio.

“There were moments against Sassuolo and Napoli where we did well and we need to build on those. This team lacks consistency and we have to work on the psychological aspect. Attitude goes beyond tactical systems.

“Looking at the bare facts, we conceded nine goals and scored one, so there’s little to get enthusiastic about. We need to find the positives and expand them. The main problem seems to be that the moment we make a mistake, we get slapped about.”

Di Francesco was asked if some of that was down to the problems off the field, as Sampdoria’s sale to Gianluca Vialli and his conglomerate has again stalled.

Fans are furious with President Massimo Ferrero and for the second time surrounded a restaurant he was at, forcing police to clear a pathway out.

“I understand it’s not easy, but we really must try to keep these matters outside of the training ground, otherwise they just become alibis.

“We train every day and have to focus on our work. We can’t hide behind the problems that are out there. I saw Samp fans cheering us on during moments of difficulty and I cannot ask for more. It’s up to us now to repay them.”
