UEFA have announced the 2021 Europa League Final will be in Sevilla, while a third club competition from 2021 is to be called the Europa Conference League.
It was confirmed in a UEFA Press conference this evening that the Video Assistant Referee technology will be available in all the Europa League knockout phase ties this season.
Not only is VAR not currently used in the Europa League group stage, but there aren’t even goal-line referees, so it has returned to the most old-fashioned version of officiating.
UEFA also announced the 2021 Europa League Final will be at Sevilla’s Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
The 2021 European Super Cup will be staged in Belfast, Northern Ireland, at Windsor Park.
Perhaps the most important news was confirmation that the third UEFA club competition will be launched from 2021-22 and has been named the UEFA Europa Conference League.
It is “aimed at giving more clubs in more countries a chance to participate in European football.”
