“I don’t see all the controversy. Leaving out Immobile is simply a coaching decision that is part of dealing with the squad,” the director of sport told Sky Sport Italia.

Immobile was left out of the starting XI after his furious reaction to a substitution at the weekend.
“We are playing seven games in 18 days, he had a muscular problem in the first half against Parma on Sunday, which was the real reason why he was substituted.
“The reaction to the substitution was a little excessive, but his apology was accepted by everyone.
“We’ve got clear ambitions for this season and in order to achieve those, we must go for the victory in every stadium, including against the Serie A leaders. We proved it last season and must prove it again tonight.”
