Milan mayor Beppe Sala has assured that he is fully behind the idea of a new San Siro. “I’ve decided to put aside my nostalgia and passion.”

Sala had previously been cold on the idea of Milan and Inter building a new stadium to replace San Siro, but he has now come around.

“I’m not boycotting the construction of a new stadium and I’ve decided to put aside my nostalgia and passion for San Siro because, otherwise, I wouldn’t be a good mayor,” he told ANSA.

“I’ll only want the rules to be respected, how much will be built and how. The environmental impact will certainly play a crucial part.”

Plans for the new venue were presented on Thursday, with two architects putting impressions forward.
