Gian Piero Gasperini says Duvan Zapata is in “stratospheric shape” ahead of Atalanta’s trip to Sassuolo in Serie A tomorrow.

Atalanta won 2-0 at Roma last time out to move up to third in the table, but tomorrow’s match with Sassuolo is their fourth away from home in five.

“We’ll be playing yet another match away from home,” Gasperini said at a Press conference.

“After this, we can finally return to play at our stadium. We hope to keep going like this, as we’ve done so far.

“Now our games are all close together. We must quickly recover our energy from the match at Roma so we can do well again.

“The table is still early days but, in any case, it’s positive. We must have the right ambition.

“We had a good performance against a team with enthusiasm, but now we have to turn page immediately and think about Sassuolo. We mustn’t have any lapses.

“With games so close to each other, it’s difficult to always put out the same team. We’ll change, like we did at Roma and will against Shakhtar.

“Sassuolo are an excellent team, who have got even stronger. They have a lot of potential up top, with Berardi being the top scorer.

“They’re a dangerous team, so we’ll have to read the game well.”

Zapata has continued from where he left off last season, scoring four goals in the Dea’s first five League games.

“Duvan’s in stratospheric shape. We must keep him that way because he’s decisive player.

“Compared to last year, he’s even better. He has strength and quality and he’s among the best in our League.

“We’re waiting for Muriel, we’ll see how he is. Kjaer had a good game. There were some doubts about him playing the 90 minutes, but he did well: the credit is all his.

“If we’ve started well, it’s thanks to the squad. We only lost Mancini and started from where we had left off.

“Then we added Muriel and Malinovski, after which Kjaer and Arana arrived. We’ve changed little and that can be an advantage.”
