Juan Cuadrado confessed Andrea Barzagli “is on me constantly” to make the Juventus star an effective right-back. “I know I can do better.”
The Colombian was Man of the Match in the 3-0 Champions League victory over Bayer Leverkusen, both attacking well and defending in his new role as a right-back.
“I am very happy. From the start when talking to the Coach, I tried to change my mentality and be fully concentrated, as I know that I can do better, but Barzagli is on me constantly, so I can’t relax for a second!” he told Sky Sport Italia.
Barzagli has just joined Maurizio Sarri’s coaching staff a few months after his retirement.
“It was a good performance from the team, we knew it was important to go out there with the right hunger. Bayer Leverkusen pass it very well, but we reorganised and took control of the game.
“Hopefully, we can give the Coach what he’s looking for as soon as possible.”
Bayer Leverkusen had most of the possession in Turin, including 58 per cent in the first half, but had no shots on target.
“Now we’ve got Barzagli, an extra experienced voice to help me out and give advice. I also watch lots of videos, as I want to get better and learn about this role.”
