Mario Rui will miss Napoli’s Serie A match against Torino on Sunday with a muscle injury but has nonetheless been called up by Portugal.
Mario Rui was taken off just 33 minutes into Napoli’s 0-0 draw with Racing Genk last night.
Tests the following morning showed the left-back had suffered a thigh strain in his left leg.
The Partenopei added he would be reassessed in a week’s time, ruling him out of the trip to Torino.
However, he was selected by Portugal for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers with Luxembourg and Ukraine.
The 27-year-old has been joined in the squad by Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as Inter loanee Joao Mario and Milan-owned Andre Silva.
There is also a call-up for Olympiacos’ Ruben Semedo, who was released from prison a year ago, having done time for robbery, assault, kidnapping and attempted murder.
