Milan boss Marco Giampaolo has made it clear that he will not drop Krzysztof Piatek. “If he doesn’t score, who does?”
Piatek has scored just twice this season, in stark contrast to his 30-goal haul of 2018-19, and it had been speculated that the Pole could be dropped against Genoa tomorrow.
However, Giampaolo asserted he would be sticking with his side’s “most prolific striker”.
“In terms of possession, we’re second only to Napoli,” explained the under-fire Coach at a Press conference.

“We’re top in terms of territorial supremacy. We’re lacking a threat in the final third and we have to work on that.
“This last piece is missing to bear the fruit of these numbers. We must set up better in the final third so we offer more of a threat.
“Milan can’t give up their most prolific striker. If Piatek doesn’t score, who does? Giampaolo?
“I can afford to leave him for out one, two or a maximum of three games a season, but you can’t think of giving up your top scorer.
“The most important players must stay in to suffer and take responsibility. They have to stay in the trenches.
“At this time, we must raise our level of focus and play every ball like it’s the last one.
“Even a throw-in can make the difference. It’s a situation that no-one expected, but now it’s there. And we must know how to stick together and get out of it.
“If we’re at this point, it’s because we probably did something wrong. One person doesn’t matter, rather we all do. Individual interests aren’t important.
“The 25 players who make up this squad have to give everything for themselves and the shirt, not me.
“The players have conveyed their enthusiasm to me and also privately in the work they’ve done
“We must be strong in defeats. We need to keep the boat steady. We must know how to suffer and pull up our sleeves, paying attention to every single detail.”

“I can only silence the critics through work. That’s the only way I know. I’ll continue to do things the way I’ve always done them.
