Jack Bonaventura had his first start in almost a year and celebrated Milan’s comeback win at Genoa, but “we can and must do better.”
The 30-year-old was in the starting XI at Marassi this evening, his first since a Europa League meeting with Real Betis on October 25, 2018.
“It’s an important victory, as the last few games were negative, so we needed the points,” the midfielder told DAZN after a 2-1 win.
“We can and must do better, nonetheless. It’s natural the pressure gets to a team with so many young players, but we need to get the best out of ourselves.”
Bonaventura had been out following surgery for knee ligament damage.
“It was tough to miss out, I couldn’t wait to get back and play, but I worked really hard, the knee is fine and it’s not just a matter of getting some playing time and I’ll be better than ever.
“Players with more experience have to raise their voices and make themselves heard, but everyone here takes responsibility and steps up. We managed to turn it around today, but we need to do better.
“A victory will give us more confidence and we can work in training to improve.”
