There are reports Sinisa Mihajlovic could be back on the Bologna bench this afternoon for the game with Lazio, pending medical approval.
It kicks off at 14.00 UK time (13.00 GMT), click here for a match preview.
The Coach was diagnosed with leukaemia in July and had been on the touchline for the first two games of the Serie A season against Verona and SPAL, as he had just come to the end of his first course of chemotherapy.
He went back in for the second course at the Sant’Orsola Hospital in Bologna on September 8 and was not expected back until after the break for international duty.
However, La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Mihajlovic is progressing well and eager to be present for this special encounter, as he spent much of his career at Lazio from 1998-2004 and is very close to their Coach and his former teammate, Simone Inzaghi.
He still needs permission from his doctors and will have to wait for the latest blood tests to ensure he is strong enough to leave the specialist clinic.
Much like the last time, Mihajlovic will be asked to keep a protective face-mask on when in close proximity to people, although he can take it off when on the touchline.
The Serbian has been keeping in touch with his squad via Skype and even giving half-time team talks.
Bologna are in need of his support too, picking up just one point in the last three games.
The fans of both clubs have organised a joint pilgrimage to a local church in the hills outside Bologna before the match so that they can pray for Mihajlovic’s recovery.
Bologna supporters already made the walk on July 21, along with Mihajlovic’s wife Arianna, but this time invited their Lazio counterparts too.
