Stefano Pioli is expected to sign his Milan contract this evening and take charge of the first training session tomorrow, replacing Marco Giampaolo.
The decision seems to have been made and multiple reports including Sky Sport Italia point to Pioli’s agent Bruno Satin meeting Milan officials this afternoon.
They are working out the details of the two-year deal and Pioli will only join them when it is time to put pen to paper.
Giampaolo has not officially been fired yet, but four defeats in the opening seven rounds, and deeply unconvincing wins over Brescia, Hellas Verona and Genoa, were not enough to keep him in the role.
It’s suggested Giampaolo and his staff are currently at the Milanello training ground emptying out their desks.
Luciano Spalletti had been the first choice, but it’s reported he was asking for too much money along with the need to terminate his existing contract with Inter.
Pioli, on the other hand, is ready to accept €1m for this season, rising to €1.5m for next term if he achieves certain results.
