Lazio have released a statement confirming they will try to identify and ban the supporters who were responsible for racist chants against Stade Rennais.
It comes after UEFA announced they were opening disciplinary proceedings into the allegations of racist behaviour in the Europa League match.
A verdict will be issued by UEFA on October 17.
“In confirming that Lazio will work to defend its reputation and tradition, the club announces that it has immediately started an investigation to identify those responsible and will rigorously apply the code of ethics to remove them from the stadium,” read the club statement.
“We also wish to point out that the club, in protecting its interests, will join any legal action taken against those who, following the investigation with police, are found to be responsible.”
Along with racist chants, the fans are said to have made Fascist salutes in the crowd, which ought to make them easier to identify using camera footage.
