Beppe Iachini confirmed he’d be “very happy to return to Sampdoria,” as he is the only remaining candidate along with Gianni De Biasi following Gennaro Gattuso’s refusal.
Samp parted company with Eusebio Di Francesco this week, terminating his contract by mutual consent after just seven Serie A games, six of which were defeats.
President Massimo Ferrero has seen several choices turn him down, including Stefano Pioli and most recently Gattuso.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the only remaining options are Iachini and former Albania Coach De Biasi.
“All I can say right now with certainty is that I would be very happy to return to Sampdoria for the rapport, the respect, the affection and the heart I share with these fans,” Iachini told Telenord.
“A wonderful relationship has been formed with this city and all the supporters. Sampdoria are in my heart, I cheer them on and wish them all the best in future.”
The 55-year-old had 31 appearances on the Sampdoria bench from November 2011 to June 2012.
