Everton have reportedly joined the race to sign Milan left-back Ricardo Rodriguez, who warns “I’m a player who always wants to play.”

Rodriguez had been among the first names on Milan’s teamsheet in the first two seasons following his arrival from Wolfsburg in 2017.

However, the Swiss has been benched for the Rossoneri’s last three games, with new boy Theo Hernandez preferred.

“Not playing the last three games means nothing,” he told Aargauer Zeitung.

“I can’t say how my career will pan out, but what I will say is that I’m a player who always wants to play.”

Calciomercato.com writes Bundesliga sides Borussia Dortmund and Schalke could revive their interest in the 27-year-old this January but also that he is now being monitored by Everton.

Despite former Roma man Lucas Digne being the Toffees’ undisputed first choice at left-back, backup option Leighton Baines is 34 and will be out of contract at the end of the campaign.
