Leonardo Bonucci said there is a real “family” atmosphere within the Italy squad and revealed why he’ll “always be grateful” to Roberto Mancini.
The Nazionale will be at Euro 2020 after winning all seven qualifiers so far, including last night’s 2-0 victory over Greece at the Stadio Olimpico.
“A strong rapport has been created between the players and Mancini,” the Juventus defender said at the Festival dello Sport.
“Nobody ever turns up late, there’s never a word out of place. It’s not just a selection of players, but a real team. Once we put the Azzurri jersey on, we all feel joy and enthusiasm, we feel united, like a family.”
Bonucci goes way back with Mancini, as this was the Coach who gave him his Serie A debut at Inter.
“I will forever be grateful to Mancini thanks to that debut for Inter in 2006. My first game for Italy was also a unique sensation. I remember Fabio Cannavaro gave me a pat on the shoulder and after that, I felt calmer.”
