Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has refused to rule out a return for Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain. “Why not?”

Higuain seemed to burn his bridges with Napoli when he signed for Juventus in the summer of 2016, but De Laurentiis has now left the door open to a second spell at the San Paolo for the Argentine.

“It’s not up to me to say so and Ancelotti’s never asked me,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“But if he did, I’d tell him: why not?”

The film producer then revisited the situations regarding Dries Mertens, Jose Callejon and Fabian Ruiz.

“Mertens and Callejon are tied to Naples. I respect them so we’ll meet and talk. Napoli is a club to love, it’s like a beautiful woman.

“I made them offers eight months ago and I certainly can’t go beyond what I proposed. If they want to go and live a bad life or be sellouts in China then they’re free to do that. But they’re two smart lads.

“I like Fabian Ruiz very much. Why, like someone wrote, should I sell him for €60m? If I was offered €180m…”

Finally, De Laurentiis revealed his ‘admiration’ for young midfielders Sandro Tonali and Gaetano Castrovilli.

“I admire Tonali and Castrovilli. The former is owned by a friend of mine [Massimo Cellino] and I hope he sells [Tonali] for €50m.

“As for the latter, I really like him.”
