Hachim Mastour, once billed as the future of Italy and Milan, has officially returned to football with Serie C side Reggina.
Mastour announced on his Instagram account that he was “honoured” to have signed a three-year contract with “a great club like Reggina”.
The 21-year-old had been a free agent since leaving Greek club PAS Lamia in March and failed to impress Parma during a trial stint the following month.
Legendary Milan boss Arrigo Sacchi recommended the attacker, then still just 14, to join the Rossoneri over Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City.
However, the move did not go to plan as he became better known for his freestyle videos on YouTube, one of which saw him take on Brazil superstar Neymar.
Although an Italy international at Under-16 level, he has one senior cap for Morocco and cannot turn back.
Reggina, for their part, were a Serie A club as recently as 2009 but had to start over as a non-League team in 2016 and are currently in the third tier.
