Manchester United had asked Juventus for the availability of Wojciech Szczesny before David De Gea extended his contract, claim reports.
According to Sun Sport, Szczesny was suggested to the club by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the summer.
De Gea had been widely expected to leave, but instead put pen to paper on a new four-year deal in September.
As for the Poland international, his current contract with Juventus is due to expire in June 2021.
Mattia Perin had been brought in to be groomed as his heir, but a series of injuries saw him ruled out until November with barely any playing time last season either.
Instead, Gigi Buffon returned to Turin to be Szczesny’s understudy.
