The Neroverdi have not played for three weeks, as their game with Brescia was postponed following the death of patron Giorgio Squinzi.

“The last few weeks have been unusual for what happened to our patron, then the break for international duty. We lost some players to injury, but are ready to take the game to Inter,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“The defeats are painful, but we want to make up for them and show that we really are the team we saw perform so well against Sampdoria and SPAL.”

The injury crisis has ruled out Gianluca Pegolo, Gian Marco Ferrari, Vlad Chiriches, Luca Mazzitelli, Mehdi Bourabia and Rogerio.

“We know that many players arrived very late in the summer and it’s not easy to find our way forward quickly, but we know this is a strong team that can have an important say this season. I have no doubts on that and a difficult start won’t change my thoughts.”

Inter started the season with six wins out of six, but lost their 100 per cent Serie A record and the top of the table with a 2-1 home defeat to Juventus.

“The Nerazzurri already showed their strength, even in defeat to Barcelona and Juventus,” continued De Zerbi.

“Serie A is different this season, more balanced and the level of difficulty in every game has increased. That is clear just from the performances of the sides that were promoted from Serie B, as they have courage and play real football.

“We know that Sassuolo have a very good recent record against Inter, but the respect for our opponents remains intact. We know who we are, that Inter are superior, but also that with courage and confidence in our own qualities, we can cause them problems.”
