This is the debut for new Milan Coach Stefano Pioli, so Lecce have no tactical framework to prepare against.

“The Rossoneri have the characteristics to play 4-3-3, they changed Coach, but – like me – Pioli has only been able to work with the full squad from Thursday due to the break for international duty,” said Liverani in his Press conference.

“Milan’s biggest danger man is Suso, who is an unpredictable player, while they have a lot of quality in midfield. I am sure they’ll be able to interpret Pioli’s style of football.

“It’s up to us to make Milan suffer. We certainly won’t go to San Siro in order to clam up in our own half. We can and must attack them, as it’s the only way to get points. Our philosophy is that attack is the best form of defence.

“We’re over our defeat to Atalanta, even if I really didn’t like our attitude, as we lost our way far too easily. That is unacceptable for Lecce and I expect a response tomorrow.

“Being in Serie A is a joy for us, regardless of who we are facing or in what venue. Now we must add the determination to stay at this level. We’re at risk if we lose that fire in the belly. I want my players to have the arrogance to believe this is not just a passing phase in Serie A.

“Only at the midway stage of the season will we know where we stand.”
