Paulo Fonseca was in the stands due to a touchline ban, so Nuno Campos took his place in the dressing room and the Press conference.

The goalless draw was not the worst news for the Giallorossi, as they also lost Nikola Kalinic and Bryan Cristante to injuries in the first half.

“Kalinic has a knock, while Cristante returned from international duty with some groin problems. Making a change after just six minutes obviously influenced the game and changed all our plans. Then we went down to 10 men at the end.

“We’re working on cutting down the number of bookings we receive, but both yellow cards given to Justin Kluivert seemed a little strange to me. I’ve been a player, so I know it’s hard to foul someone when they are behind you and you can’t see them.”

The biggest issue was the lack of shots on goal, as over the last few games Roma have gone from spectacular thrillers to dull stalemates.

“We had situations where we got the last ball wrong, the final decision that would’ve created the scoring opportunity. It’s not the result we wanted and above all, we don’t want our possession game to be sterile, but that’s what happened.

“Javier Pastore had to adapt tactically to a new deeper midfield position, but he gives everything for the team. Edin Dzeko wasn’t 100 per cent, but he gave his contribution.”
