There are reports Francesco Guidolin or Thiago Motta are being lined up to replace Andreazzoli, as Gennaro Gattuso has again rejected the job.

“It’s not the first time we’ve almost taken the lead and immediately conceded. This evening, we were up against a team that proved itself to be superior. They were more determined, more precise, had clearer ideas,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“It could’ve been a less heavy scoreline, if we hadn’t made some of the errors and if we had taken our chances, but over the course of the match, it was only right that Parma win.”

Andreazzoli was already nearly fired two weeks ago, but kept for longer only because Gattuso and Stefano Pioli turned Genoa down.

After this heavy 5-1 defeat, it’s safe to say his position at Marassi is untenable.

“I know how these things go, I’ve been working in football for many years. I can only do what is within my power and what I can control, whereas these are decisions that I cannot control.

“I cannot say what the rapport has been like within the club, that remains between us. There are many people working at a club and within a team, so everyone makes mistakes, including me. I think perhaps the team was over-estimated after the pre-season friendlies and early games.”
