Fabio Quagliarella’s stalker has finally been sentenced to a four-and-a-half-year prison term, as it emerges the Sampdoria forward wasn’t his only victim.

Police took 54-year-old Raffaele Piccolo into custody in Castellammare di Stabia, Quagliarella’s hometown on the outskirts of Naples.

He was a postal inspector who from 2006-10 pretended to be a police officer dealing directly with Quagliarella’s family in the investigation of a stalker.

However, it was Piccolo himself who was sending the threatening letters and using the situation to ingratiate himself with his own victims.

It emerged that Quagliarella, who was forced to leave Napoli due to the situation, was not the only victim of this stalker.

There were several other local Neapolitan figures, including the head of a famous nightclub, who were convinced Piccolo was helping them pursue these crimes.

The anonymous letters claimed Quagliarella and others were part of a paedophile network or colluding with organised crime, making their lives a nightmare for years.
