Boca Juniors sporting director Nicolas Burdisso has affirmed that Daniele De Rossi will honour his contract with the club.

De Rossi signed on with Boca until 2020 over the summer, but injuries have limited the former Roma midfielder to just five competitive appearances.

The 36-year-old also watched on from the bench as the Argentine side exited the Copa Libertadores, but Burdisso spoke defiantly when asked about his ex-teammate’s future.

The 36-year-old also watched on from the bench as the Argentine side exited the Copa Libertadores, but Burdisso spoke defiantly when asked about his ex-teammate’s future.

“Daniele came to Argentina to play for Boca because it was his wish,” he said at a Press conference.

“He’s had some bad luck with injuries, but his commitment and status aren’t up for discussion.

“We hope to have him back playing as soon as possible. We have a solid base and that allows us to think positively, always in an economic and social context of an unstable country.”
