It was previously reported the club had agreed to almost double Verratti’s salary to €12m a season, but Alfredo Pedulla claims he will earning nearer to €17m.

The 26-year-old joined the French giants from Pescara in 2012 and has gone on to make almost 300 appearances for them, winning six Ligue 1 titles.

He has 36 caps and three goals for Italy but has never played in Serie A.

His role at PSG could be about to become more prominent as current captain Thiago Silva seems to be nearing the end of his spell at Parc des Princes.
