A group of Napoli-supporting politicians have demanded answers in parliament following their side’s controversial draw with Atalanta.
The refusal to award Napoli a penalty and subsequent Atalanta equaliser in last night’s 2-2 draw has provoked anger amongst the San Paolo faithful.
Earlier today, a group of 12 politicians with allegiances to the Partenopei submitted a parliamentary question to Italy’s Ministry of Sport.
They asked, “which initiatives will the government take to ensure the correctness and impartiality of Serie A for millions of football fans?
"Among the tasks of the ministry is institutional activity for the fight against the manipulation of sporting results and the promotion of loyalty as a qualifying component of every sporting initiative.”
That came after their reconstruction of the match included “the penalty denied to Napoli in a blatant manner and the referee’s provocative refusal to use VAR.”
“Napoli were clearly defrauded by losing two points in the table, falling to fifth place,” they added.
