Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli believes Parma's goal "woke us up a little" and sparked their comeback for a 1-1 draw.

The game was poised at 0-0 until Gervinho beat the Viola offside trap to chip a delicate shot over goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski, but it was Castrovilli's diving header that snatched an equaliser.

"We were playing in a superficial way for most of the game, and then Parma's goal woke us up a little. We regret not winning all three points," Castrovilli told Sky Sport Italia.

Castrovilli blamed Fiorentina's midweek game against Sassuolo for the team's sluggishness in the opening half.

"Perhaps having played three games in a week affected our performance, but we did well to turn it around."

Castrovilli has been one of Fiorentina's best performers this season, so is he aiming to make Roberto Mancini's Italy squad for Euro 2020?

"I can only cross my fingers, but I don't feel like saying anything."

He has scored three goals and provided two assists in his maiden Serie A season.
