Kostas Manolas struggled to explain why Napoli were going through a bad patch but accepted they had to defend better as a team.
Napolis 2-1 defeat to Roma marked their third game without a win and saw them drop to sixth in Serie A, but they can qualify for the Champions League knockout stages with victory over Red Bull Salzburg tomorrow.
“I have played six matches with Koulibaly and we’ve done well. We only conceded two goals against Roma,” Manolas said at a Press conference.
Since the loss to Roma, the club have been put in ritiro by President Aurelio De Laurentiis and Carlo Ancelotti has said that he doesn’t agree with the decision...
“I don’t want to talk about it, I’m focused on the match,” insisted the defender, who preferried to talk about the Partenopei’s form of late.
“I see so much confusion; I don’t understand why. A team don’t solely depending on their defence and when you concede a goal, it’s not only the fault of one player, except from the big individual mistakes.
“You defend with 11 players and attack with 11 players.”
“I can’t explain it. We are a strong team, and I think we should be hungrier and more ruthless.
“There are no easy games, something we saw against Roma. We didn’t score in the first half and we went to the break in a bad position. At 2-0, the game was over.
“I feel we can do better; we are Napoli and we have many great players.”
