Wojciech Szczesny admits Juventus had gone “too long” without clean sheets and hopes they can keep another one against Lokomotiv Moscow.

Szczesny has been rotating in goal with Gianluigi Buffon lately but has so far played in all three of Juve’s Champions League games this season, and he is happy to compete with the returning veteran.

“Gigi is still a great goalkeeper and is a great person,” the 29-year-old said at a Press conference.

“When he plays, he is still in great shape. We are all happy and it’s great to get another year with him.

“When he started playing for the national team, I was still playing tennis and I was very poor.

“We had a run without clean sheets that went on for too long and now we hope to continue after keeping one in the last game.”

Against Lokomotiv he will face a fellow Poland international in Grzegorz Krychowiak, and he he can’t wait to get one over his childhood friend.

“He has been a friend of mine for years. We grew up together and it’s a beautiful and great story.

“But I can’t wait to beat him. I am part of one of the best teams out there, I feel strong and I do my best.”

Juventus will be through to the next stage of the Champions League with a win tonight.
