Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne reportedly led his team’s revolt against Aurelio De Laurentiis through his son and Vice-President Edoardo.

De Laurentiis had already left the San Paolo when he was informed by Edoardo that the Napoli players had not obeyed his orders after the match against RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Tuesday.

De Laurentiis had put the team in a punitive training retreat this week – a decision they collectively ignored – and La Repubblica claims Insigne told Edo: “We’re going home to our houses… you can tell that to your father.”

After the 1-1 draw, coach Carlo Ancelotti left without saying a word to the Press and the Partenopei risk being fined by UEFA for not honouring their media commitments.

Corriere dello Sport adds the President was furious after hearing of the protest and Ancelotti could be in trouble, having already reacted to the retreat by stating: “I don’t agree with the decision.”

The club has yet to comment on the situation.
