Celtic fans told to 'avoid club colours'

Celtic fans have been advised not to wear club colours in Rome after two of their fans were stabbed before the match against Lazio in the Europa League.

After confirming that two supporters had been taken to hospital with stab wounds, Celtic have released more information for those travelling to the game tonight.

“Do not make your own way to the stadium. Use the shuttle buses from 2pm at the Piazzele delle Canestre,” they tweeted.

“Do not carry glass bottles or containers.

“Beer & food will be available at stadium.

“Stay in large groups.”

More concerning, however, is that the guidance included “avoiding wearing club colours,” with the Scottish champions clearly keen to eliminate the risk of clashes with Lazio ultras.

The Aquile have long had issues with ultras - and you can read about them here.
