Marco Rose says Borussia Monchengladbach want to “confirm” they are no flash in the pan after reiterating they should not have been given a penalty at Roma.
Monchengladbach held Roma to a controversial 1-1 draw in their last Europa League meeting after referee Willie Collum awarded them a spot-kick for a non-existent handball.
However, the Germans sit top of the Bundesliga after the opening 10 games and Rose wants his side to show they can also be “protagonists and masters” in Europe when they host the Giallorossi later.
“The penalty Collum gave us in the first game didn’t exist,” the coach said at a Press conference.
“However, the first game served us as a lesson for us and we’ve prepared something specific to try to beat the Giallorossi.
“We have to confirm the performance levels we’ve shown in the last few weeks. We know Roma’s quality, but we want to be protagonists and masters on the pitch.
“And, also thanks to our fans, we’ll try to win.”
