SPAL boss Leonardo Semplici was not satisfied with his side's goalless draw against Udinese after a last-gasp penalty save.

The away side had the better of the play, but walked away from the Dacia Arena with only a point, as Juan Musso kept out Andrea Petagna's spot-kick at the 98th minute.

"A point earned? For how it went, no. The penalty could've given us three points, it is a particular moment, also because we failed to score it with practically the last kick of the game," Semplici told DAZN.

However, Semplici was pleased with how his side played in this relegation tussle.

"We played well, it's not easy to take points away from here."

Semplici left out striker Andrea Petagna from the starting XI, and explained his reasons for the decision.

"Petagna had a few problems during the week, and he has always played, so he needed to take a break and to come on late in the game."

SPAL lie 19th in the table and haven't won since beating Parma 1-0 at the beginning of October.
